Way back in 2011, four best friends joined forces (like the Avengers, but better) to bring the streets of Asia to the streets of Orlando, Fla. They secured a cool little spot on Mills Avenue, gathered all of their favorite family recipes, and convinced their girlfriends (all of whom happen to be their wives now – lucky guys!) to open a brand-new restaurant concept with a small team. Read: just the eight of them. The guys handled the back-of-house – everything from washing the dishes to working the wok-line, while Jillian, Kay, Chrissy and Ying handled all things front-of-house.

Fast-forward to almost a decade later, Hawkers now spans multiple locations across the country and calls more than 500 team members family.

It’s been a wild ride, but really, we are just getting started.

Kaleb Harrell

CEO & avid 90s hip-hop fan

A Central Florida native (Winter Haven in the house!), Kaleb grew up with a passion for food, entrepreneurship and sneakers. Shortly after graduating from the University of Central Florida with a B.S. in Finance, and a love for marketing, Kaleb partnered up with his longtime best friend (and fellow Hawkers co-founder), Wayne Yung, to launch a branding agency that would go on to work with an impressive client list including Disney, UPS and Chevrolet. Since co-founding Hawkers Asian Street Food in 2011 with his three best buddies, Kaleb has been named on multiple 40 Under 40 Lists, and through his leadership Hawkers has been named a five-time Inc. 5000 winner, one of Central Florida’s fastest-growing businesses and among Central Florida’s Top 100 privately held companies.

No, but seriously. Ask him about his sneaker collection.

Kaleb Founder

Allen Lo

Brand Chef & an even bigger sneaker buff than Kaleb

To say Allen grew up in restaurants would be a serious understatement – he literally grew up in restaurants, often spending more time at the family restaurant than at his house. Born & raised in Kedah, Malaysia, Allen eventually brought his talents to the states, where he continued to make an impact on the restaurant scene through culinary, operational and franchisee work. Amidst all of this, Allen spent almost a decade growing his own mortgage company before joining forces with Kaleb, Wayne & Kin to bring authentic Asian street food to the streets of the United States.

Many of the recipes you enjoy on the Hawkers menu are Allen’s family recipes passed down from generation to generation. Don’t ask him for the curry dipping sauce recipe – he’s been forever sworn to secrecy. It’s a big deal.

Wayne Yung

Co-Founder & tech king. Guarantee he has the new iPhone before it’s even announced

With family roots in rural China and Vietnam, Wayne grew up introducing friends like Kaleb to some of the best and most authentic Asian cuisine on the planet. After graduating from UCF with a B.S. in Management, Wayne partnered with Kaleb to launch a branding agency that would go on to work with a robust client list including Disney, UPS and Chevrolet. Largely responsible for thoroughly building out the technological foundation for Hawkers, Wayne now runs our Hawkers wood shop with Kin, where they work on their beard game and are also responsible for building almost every piece of furniture you see within the Hawkers restaurants – and more.

Oh, and he also loves sneakers too.

Kin Ho

Co-founder & woodshop extraordinaire. Likes sneakers but prefers to spend time in his trusty woodworking boots

Growing up in Hong Kong, with an extensive background in food & beverage operations and culinary management, Kin truly built the foundation for the Hawkers commissary. The backbone of our authentic recipes, the commissary kitchen provides each of our locations with the “secret sauce” (really, though – all of our sauces are handmade right in commissary!), to some of our most beloved dishes. Kin now runs the woodshop with Wayne, where they do so much more than build damn-good goods. Everything from dining tables to patio furniture to kitchen equipment, the Hawkers wood shop keeps the restaurant foundation strong (literally).

Bring Kin an ice-cold Orange Fanta – he’ll love you forever.
